This redesign addressed common UX problems of navigating through tests and their respective sections.

Identifying Problems
Support tickets and usability studies identified these issues with the original design of the dashboard:
- Uncertainty locating different tests
- Confusion differentiating between test tabs and test sections
- Lack of confidence in interpreting status indicators
Additionally, the horizontal layout was not scalable to accommodate more exams.
Confusion about this layout was our number #1 support issue.
Designing Solutions
To address these issues, the final design incorporated:
- Vertical layout for scalability
- Accordion containers to condense and nest information intuitively
- Bold use of color and contrast to differentiate status
- Strategic typography and layout for easier understanding
- Use of iconography to support unique states and actions
- Visual indicator of time remaining
Results
In the 10 months since this went live, we have not received a single support ticket related to locating tests or sections, or confusion about status.
