Moodboard

This moodboard elicits the emotion and tone I would like this operating system to evoke. I chose sunrise colors to create a calm, quiet, and open atmosphere.

01. Bin Bar

Bins are like quick-access folders where users can place their frequented applications, shortcuts, and files into groups that are intuitive and ergonomic for them. Clicking on the circle at the bottom of the screen pulls up these bins.

02a. Default Bin

The central default bin houses workspace navigation, file and program access, system access, trash, and apps running in the current workspace. If users don’t like their current programs hidden like this, they can opt to display their programs like traditional taskbar.

Note: The image shows apps running in the current workspace beneath the system buttons. This will be changed to separate from the default bin in order to differentiate it from app shortcuts in custom bins. This way, currently running applications will have more visibility.

02b. Custom Bin

A custom bin is a hub where users can organize certain apps for quick access. Bins can be set as global to be shown in all workspaces or local to that specific workspace. If I wanted to set up a workspace for doing design work, I would create a local bin to place all of my design programs as well as shortcuts to my design folders.

03. Workspaces

Users can view and change workspaces by selecting the workspace icon in the default bin or by tapping the command/super key on their keyboard. This provides an overview of all of their workspaces and what applications are running in each.
